Rosemary Hill 18km Trail Run

Print page

Rosemary Hill was the setting for a beautiful trail run out in Pretoria, it was my first Spring run and the weather obliged with clear skies and sunshine!

This route is ideally suited for novice trail runners as there are no technical sections and no real hill climbing to speak of.

The most notable sections of the route are through the Rosemary Bush fields and the peacan nut trees. There is also a very cool single track section through a forest.

The old ruins provided some great photos for those doing the main race.

Thanks again to Debbie from Wildtrail Running for the great run and Anthony Bold for the ever entertaining company along the way!

The saddest part of the run for me was realising that I will not be able to do Mont Aux Sources in my Vibrams and I will once again need to wear shoes! I fear the terrain at Monty and the 50km distance will prove too much and I cannot risk ruining my day after the months of training. Here’s hoping for a sub 6 hour run next weekend!
